Tredje besøg på Riget - Third visit to the hospital

Både Jesper og jeg møder op på Rigshospitalet. Vi bliver igen taget venligt imod i Børnemodtagelsen. De henviser os til en stue, hvor vi skal vente på lægen. Kort efter kommer en sygeplejerske ind. Hun fortæller os, at lægen er spastiker og spørger om vi er okay med det? Det er en underlig form for advarsel, da hans fysiske fremtræden jo ikke burde betyde noget. Alligevel forsikrer sygeplejersken os om, at han er virkelig dygtig.

Kort efter kommer lægen ind. Jeg fortæller, at Arthur siden han har fået medicin (3 dage), har haft 9 anfald. Jesper fortæller, at han har bemærket, at Arthurs anfald kan starte ved en pludselig lyd.

Lægen kan anfaldene for Startle Reaktioner, men vi forstår ikke rigtigt hvad han mener.
Han bemærker, at Arthurs hænder er meget knyttede og undersøger dem nøje. 

Arthur får også taget blodprøver og vi får en mærkelig tissepose med hjem, så vi dagen efter kan aflevere en urinprøve (lidt af et projekt med et blebarn)...

Efter samtalen bestiller lægen Frisium mikstur - Arthur skal have 2mg 2 gange dagligt. 

Vi henter miksturen senere på dagen, Arthur skal have den sprøjtet ind i kinden med en engangssprøjte  - Det ligner og smager af solbærsaft - Arthur synes det er et hit!

Third visit to the hospital

Both Jesper and I go to the hospital. We are, again, greeted kindly by the reception area for children. They direct us to a room where we have to wait for the doctor. Shortly after, a nurse enters the room. She tells us that the doctor is a spastic and asks if we are ok with that? What a strange warning, since his physical appearance should not matter. Nonetheless, the nurse assures us that he is really good.

Shortly after, the doctor enters. I tell him that Arthur has had 9 seizures since he started on his medication (3 days ago). Jesper tells him, that he has noticed that Arthur’s seizures can be set off by sudden sounds.

The doctor calls the seizures for “startled reactions” but we don’t really understand what he means by that. He notices that Arthur’s hands are very tightly clutched and examines them carefully.

They draw blood to test and we get a weird wee bag home with us, so we can deliver a urin sample the next day (which is really not easy with diapers and an infant)…

After our conversation the doctor orders Frisium mixture – Arthur’s dose is 2 mg twice daily.

We pick up the mixture later in the day, the medication is to be dispensed into Arthur’s mouth with a disposable syringe – it looks and tastes like blackcurrant juice – Arthur thinks it’s a hit!
